Led the redesign of the NIPUN Lakshya App, serving 60+ lakh monthly assessments and used by 4.5 lakh school teachers across Uttar Pradesh.
Positioned the app for nationwide scalability over the next 1-2 years, aiming to empower educators and enhance student learning outcomes with the new redesign.

Collaborated with 2 frontend and 1 backend engineers and helped reduce design to development time by 20% by designing the Website Interface and engaging in  brainstorming sessions to implement new features.

33% decrease in design-to-development handoff time by taking up variety of projects in the design studio ranging from branding to packaging to UI/UX and constructing AR models.
Collaborated with 2 creative directors, a writer, and 2 project managers, and 2 designers to ensure that designs meet client needs and brand standards. 

50% increase in click-through rates and conversion rates by visual advertisement designs and search engine optimisation for SuperCluster Pi, and their sub brands.

Managed to drive 3X growth of followers and engagement within 2 months. Made a user interface design prototype for website, tablet and mobile applications for the firm.

I led the revamp of Housing.com’s design system, addressing inconsistencies and inefficiencies by conducting user research and defining systematic improvements.

Building Design Harmony for Housing’s Future

NIPUN Lakshya app allows assessments within minutes and helps teachers to decide the proficiency status of students in reading fluency and math. This project was carried out to optimize the assessment flow.&nbsp;

During a government survey, it was found that 30% of teachers spent an additional 10-15 minutes per assessment than expected. There was also a 18% increase in user support requests related to navigation issues in the Q1'2024.&nbsp;<a href="https://dishitakumari.designfolio.me/project/66d6c4c5e683e23f4ca42b2b#:~:text=Result%20Screen-,Impact,-*Statistics%20measured%20during">SEE IMPACT!</a>

The aim was to shift NL app from an automated grading tool to an invaluable assessment product for students to scale it pan-India and redesign was the first step.&nbsp;<a href="https://dishitakumari.designfolio.me/project/66d6c4c5e683e23f4ca42b2b#:~:text=in%20the%20schools.-,Final%20Designs,-Home%20screen%20is">SEE FINAL DESIGNS</a>

It was necessary to understand the problem we would solve for the users through this redesign.&nbsp;For this, we&nbsp;visited 12 schools, and engaged with 24 teachers and 20+ students&nbsp;in Uttar Pradesh to perform an on-ground user research.

Before the user research, NIPUN Lakshya App only considered Teachers as the primary and only users. The optimal App flow was: 

Teacher starts evaluation -&gt; Asks questions directly to students -&gt; Students solve and tell answer to teacher -&gt; Teacher decides if the student answered correctly and selects correct option.&nbsp;

BUT, After research visit, we observed that to save time, almost all the teachers handed over the app to the students and they marked the answers themselves. HENCE, We introduced one more user persona -&gt; of the student!

After conducting the user research and synthesizing the pain points listed above, we categorised the complete project into 3 touchpoints.

We mapped the users to their user journey on the app, with their respective success metrics. On the left, we have the current user flow. On the right, we have the newly improved user flow.

A sneak peek into my early wireframes, mid-fidelity designs and drafts. The designs have went through at least 30 iterations per screen. It is due to several reasons:&nbsp;Change in business direction, a pandemic, shift in product roadmap or simply to improve the user experience.

We want our home screen to be personalised to each user. These are the various designs I've tried and did not make the cut. It could be due a number of reasons like unclear value proposition, cluttered designs, and lack of scalability.

A place for further exploration so users could discover something new - Detailed report for each student. One of our design principles is that each screen is singular purpose.&nbsp;

We needed a scalable design so in future Operations Team can automatically create and use questions for the evaluations.

The initial designs went through several user tests, discussions with operations, program, government and business teams to ensure we have a friendly and scalable user experience. I wish I&nbsp;could show you every single part of the process!

Usability Testing &amp;&nbsp;Customer Interviews

To validate our designs or test prototypes, we did guerrilla testing with real users. We've tested the prototype with 35+ people in a controlled testing environment as well as in the schools.

The content users see is now more relevant. We collaborated with the product and engineering team to implement full personalisation of the user experience.&nbsp;

We introduced this screen for student history storage. The screen was important as&nbsp;it presents a view of areas of improvement and any gap areas of the child.



This project, my first comprehensive project, was an invaluable experience in stakeholder management and team alignment. Regular cross-functional reviews kept my focus on problem-solving over merely shipping features. 

Notably, an unshipped feature underscored the importance of doing things right rather than rushing. Each interaction built crucial trust, and bridging the old and new UI led to insightful design-engineering sessions, no matter the complexities of designing for social impact. This project has reinforced the significance of quality and collaboration in successful redesigns.
